New Pseudomonas infections drive Pf phage transmission in CF airways
January 1, 2025Co-authored a research paper investigating the transmission patterns of Pf bacteriophages in Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, particularly in people with cystic fibrosis. The study found that Pf was predominantly passed down vertically within bacterial clone types and rarely through horizontal transfer within the airway, but also identified extensive evidence of de novo infection by new, genetically distinct Pf+ Pa.
