About
We use our project expertise to streamline supply chains for astute companies everywhere on the globe; maximising profits, while minimising potential risks and exposure. Most Supply chains encounter repeated challenges on day-to-day basis. In challenging situations, we are passionate about creating, configuring and formulating effective, secure and sustainable supply chains for large companies and well-funded startups. My early experience as a 17-year-old merchant navy cadet forged my business thinking. Instead of going to the university, I had the good fortune of sailing to, and work in, more than 200 different seaports on almost every continent over a period of 36 months - while working up to 16 hours a day, six days a week. I saw multiple ways of doing similar things. Each way had useful elements, but some elements that were not effective. As a result, I learned to combine useful elements from distinct locations to formulate a better way. More importantly, I came to understand that, once you look for it, you can always find A BETTER WAY. The quest for 'a better way' to manage eventually led me to one of the better universities - to study for an MBA course at AGSM. After graduation, I was fortunate to join Booz Allen and Hamilton, a reputed management consulting company, which was famous for having invented supply chain management. There I learned my new craft with the best supply chain minds in the world. In 2000, I co-founded Global Supply Chain Group, a company comprising supply-chain PIONEERS and visionary THINKERS. In the last 20 years, we have created several widely recognised breakthroughs in Supply Chain - as my team undertook more than 400 projects that spanned approximately 84 countries on five continents, with clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to innovative green technology companies. Our work has added cumulative value over $1 Billion, incorporating significant transformations in global manufacturing footprint, supply chain infrastructure, new investments, profitable growth through international joint ventures and other supply chain realignment, and sustainable cost reduction. My articles appear in respected journals and magazines. I speak at business schools, conferences, and workshops around the world. I have written four seminal books which are frequently used in business schools and quoted in research papers around the world. More of my story, beyond a short bio, on viveksood.com.au
