Quantifying the redundancy between prosody and text

This paper investigates the relationship between information conveyed by prosody (suprasegmental components of speech like pitch, loudness, tempo) and text using large language models (LLMs). It finds a high degree of redundancy between prosodic and textual information, particularly in intensity, duration, pauses, and pitch contours, but also notes that prosody carries additional, non-text-predictable information.
