This study provides the first nationwide estimate of the economic and personal burdens of endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain (CPP) in New Zealand, adopting a societal perspective. It incorporates direct healthcare costs, productivity losses, and carer burden, finding a macroeconomic cost of $12.67B-17.73B INT, with productivity losses as the dominant cost driver.

Problematic Periods Costing Young Women-The Impact of Menstrual Symptoms on Work and Study

This study used a cross-sectional design to investigate menstrual symptom prevalence, impacts and economic burden in Australian women of reproductive age. It found that most respondents (77%) reported bothersome menstrual symptoms, and almost half (44%) reported missed days of work or study. The economic burden due to menstrual symptoms was approximately AUD $14.2 billion per year.
